I'm Lovin' It™

A Big Mac® has 30 grams of fat. Better get the salad instead. The Bacon Ranch Salad with Crispy Chicken has only 16 grams of fat--until you add in the 15 grams of fat in the packet of Newman's Own® Ranch Dressing. 31 grams of fat in that salad--more than the Big Mac®!

The Caesar Salad with Crispy Chicken isn't any better. If you add in the fat from the packet of Newman's Own® Creamy Caesar Dressing, you are again up at 31 grams of fat.

You can glean this information from McDonald's own Web site. I suppose they deserve kudos for printing the nutrition information on the Web and also on the back of the paper mats on the trays they serve their food on. I discovered the information on the mats when I stopped in a McDonald's in Redwood City when I had time to kill. Being a vegetarian, I couldn't eat much, but I sure could soak up the information along with the propaganda. They try very hard to associate McDonald's with active and healthy kids. I guess that's to try to offset the scariness of some of the nutrition data.

I took to playing a game, which was to try to devise a meal, as high in saturated fat and sodium as possible, that an average person might plausibly order and consume. I know how to have a good time.

Double Cheeseburger? I'd Hit It.

Yeah, but have you tried the 29,500 calorie Griff Burger?

Have you had your break today?
