Project District-By-District Complete!

Posted by Trott

Prior to Saturday, Palace Family Steak House had played shows in nine of San Francisco's eleven supervisorial districts. In order to fulfill my commitment to play a show in each district before the end of the year, I had to play one show in District 4 and one show in District 7.

Fortunately, those districts are adjacent to each other. The north side of Sloat Boulevard is in one district, the south side in the other.

I set up on the median of Sloat Boulevard under the Doggie Diner head and played a song. With one foot in each district, my mission was accomplished!

Video to follow soon...

District 2 Crisis Averted

Posted by Trott

Yesterday, a crisis was averted! I played a short set of Palace Family Steak House songs at a birthday BBQ for Zeitgeist Rekords honcho Ellard in the Presidio in San Francisco.

The Presidio is located in District 2 of the city. This means that I need not fret anymore about what to do about District 2 when it comes to my District-By-District Project. District 2 crisis averted!

Here's how things now stand in Project District-By-District:

  • District 1 (Jake McGoldrick): Rockit Room

  • District 2 (Michela Alioto-Pier): Presidio

  • District 3 (Aaron Peskin): Red Devil Lounge, Grant & Green (twice!)

  • District 4 (Ed Jew): We have not yet played a show in District 4!

  • District 5 (Ross Mirkarimi): Blackthorn Tavern

  • District 6 (Chris Daly): Hotel Utah

  • District 7 (Sean Elsbernd): We have not yet played a show in District 7!

  • District 8 (Bevan Dufty): Dolores Park

  • District 9 (Tom Ammiano): 12 Galaxies

  • District 10 (Sophie Maxwell): Parkside, Bottom of the Hill

  • District 11 (Gerardo Sandoval): We have not yet played a show in District 11!

The big question now: What to do about District 7?

PFSH.Com Project Updates And Comments

Posted by Trott

30-Second Soundcheck Single Project: I have received the artwork from four artists so far. I have eight artists volunteering their artwork. I'll probably start pushing this project a bit harder once I post one or two of the singles with artwork to eBay later this month.

District-By-District Project: 7 districts down, 4 districts to go (including District 4, currently represented by Ed Jew!). I've got a few possibilities for some of the districts we haven't yet played. If they don't pan out by the end of July, I'll go to plan B which will involve performing guerrilla style. Actually, I'll probably go that route no matter what.

Comments on recent things discussed on PFSH.Com:

Commutation of Libby's Prison Sentence: I had nothing to say about this, but the Gambling Poet posted about it. Here are some of the more interesting things I've read on the topic:Bicyclists vs. Motorists: There's no shortage of jerkfaces in this city (San Francisco) whether they are on two wheels or four wheels. Soon after my recounting of a particularly stupid and obnoxious motorist verbally assaulting a law-abiding and courteous cyclist (i.e., me), the Gambling Poet used an expletive to describe people who cycle on sidewalks. Around the same time, a stop-sign running cyclist nearly flattened me while I was walking through a crosswalk. And I guess no one will be surprised that when I beeped (and I mean a little beep, not a big honk) my horn at a cyclist who ran a stop sign when I had the right of way, he gave me the finger. (Uh, gee, thanks jackass. If it wasn't for the fact that I was aware that that road was a busy cycle route, I might not have even thought to look for some moron blasting through the intersection with complete disregard for the stop sign and I might have hit and killed your braindead ass.) In short, I hate everyone no matter what you are driving/riding. (Don't even get me started on taxi drivers.)

What To Do
About District Two?

Posted by Trott

We're making good progress on our project of trying to have played a show in every supervisorial district in San Francisco by the end of 2007.

However, I'm concerned about District 2.

District 2 contains the affluent neighborhoods of Sea Cliff, Pacific Heights, and the Marina. It is not a district that contains a lot of venues for live original music.

At PFSH HQ, we've been brainstorming about places to play in District 2. Here's what we've come up with so far:
  • Summer BBQ at Robin Williams's home
  • A joint book-release and CD-release party at Danielle Steele's home
  • A $1000-a-plate political fundraiser at Sen. Dianne Feinstein's home
If you have some other ideas for appropriate District 2 venues, please send them our way--especially if it's something that might actually pan out! (Use the comments feature below or the Contact Us link on the right there.)
