District 2 Crisis Averted

Posted by Trott

Yesterday, a crisis was averted! I played a short set of Palace Family Steak House songs at a birthday BBQ for Zeitgeist Rekords honcho Ellard in the Presidio in San Francisco.

The Presidio is located in District 2 of the city. This means that I need not fret anymore about what to do about District 2 when it comes to my District-By-District Project. District 2 crisis averted!

Here's how things now stand in Project District-By-District:

  • District 1 (Jake McGoldrick): Rockit Room

  • District 2 (Michela Alioto-Pier): Presidio

  • District 3 (Aaron Peskin): Red Devil Lounge, Grant & Green (twice!)

  • District 4 (Ed Jew): We have not yet played a show in District 4!

  • District 5 (Ross Mirkarimi): Blackthorn Tavern

  • District 6 (Chris Daly): Hotel Utah

  • District 7 (Sean Elsbernd): We have not yet played a show in District 7!

  • District 8 (Bevan Dufty): Dolores Park

  • District 9 (Tom Ammiano): 12 Galaxies

  • District 10 (Sophie Maxwell): Parkside, Bottom of the Hill

  • District 11 (Gerardo Sandoval): We have not yet played a show in District 11!

The big question now: What to do about District 7?

Are you sure that the Blackthorn isn't in District 4? Where is the cutoff point?

Hi, Will! According to https://www.sfgov.org/site/bdsupvrs_index.asp?id=50737, the eastern border of District 4 is 19th Ave. The Blackthorn Tavern is in District 5.

That's weird. I live on 18th, and I could have sworn my ballot was for District 4 last time. (No, I didn't vote for Ed Jew!)

You can enter your address at https://gispub02.sfgov.org/website/nuviewer/monsmap.asp and it will tell you what district you live in.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is a special Boss Tone district.
